The Triumph of the (Connected) City

We’re a social species.  Our greatest asset is our ability to learn from people around us.  We get smart from being around other smart people.   And that’s what cities do.  They magnify the ability to learn from other people and come up with amazing new innovations.   If you think about humankind’s greatest hits. . .

Adapt, Adapt, Adapt

You know that thing that happens when you see something you've never seen before, and then you start seeing that thing everywhere. Well, we started seeing news of why failure - of all things - is so important. And now we keep seeing it everywhere. The NYC Innovation Group is already a place to think out loud, take a risk, and hazard a guess, and it turns out that's the recipie for success. We ran across a book by Tim Harford, The Undercover Economist, over the weekend called Adapt: Why Success Always Starts With Failure.

NYC Innovation

Using collaboration to fuel innovation, we're turning ideas into actions.

Insights > Ideas > Actions > Impacts > Insights

Innovation has four modes - and it's sustained when these are steps of an iterative process.

Insights into ideas
Ideas into actions
Actions into impacts
Impacts into insights

New York City is the capital of innovation, and the City of New York is a world leader in civic innovation.
